Camp Comeca is a special place for renewal - for the young people who come for its full schedule of summer programs and for the adult visitors who arrive year round for retreats, weddings and community events. After years of active use, the camp is now in need of its own renewal.
Comeca has touched thousands of lives, nurturing spirits and offering a faith experience in a beautiful natural setting. Yet over time, significant parts of the camp have fallen into disrepair. For this important ministry to remain vital, there is much work to be done.
Your donations and pledges will help renew Camp Comeca.
The goal is to raise $994,000 in gifts and pledges by August 31, 2016. Of that, about half will pay for cabin renovation and debt repayment ($273,000), swimming pool repair ($126,000), and sewer improvement ($45,000). Campaign expenses are estimated at $50,000.
The $500,000 balance will build the endowment to strengthen the camp's financial base. The Lloyd Wilson Foundation has challenged the Great Plains Conference to match a $250,000 grant toward the endowment, so your gift will be doubled by this generous grant!
Prepare your heart with prayer and ask God how you can respond to support the camping ministry at Camp Comeca. In your discernment, consider that:
- Your gift has purpose.
- Your gift is tax-deductible payable to Great Plains Camps.
- You are welcome to spread your pledge over a three-year period. All pledges must be payable by Dec. 31, 2018.
